Should Christians Celebrate Halloween?

There are debates amongst believers during this time of year if Christians should celebrate Halloween? Some say, “Sure. There’s nothing wrong with it. It’s not the devil’s day. Everyday belongs to Jesus. We can redeem the day. It’s just dress up to the kids.” Then others say, “No. We will have no part of it. Halloween is rooted in evil. It’s a day of honoring and glorifying the darkness and evil spirits. Christians are to be different and take no part in evil deeds of darkness.” These are very different viewpoints and while we may respect the wisdom and advice of other believers what matters most is what the Lord’s view point on this issue is. The scripture that comes to my mind is Hosea 4:6,

“My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge; because you [the priestly nation] have rejected knowledge, I will also reject you that you shall be no priest to Me; seeing you have forgotten the law of your God, I will also forget your children.”

We must not allow ourselves to be deceived and influenced due to lack of knowledge. A lack of knowledge leads to our destruction and rejecting knowledge leads to severe consequences. So let’s get some insight on the origin and roots of Halloween. Then we can see for ourselves if it’s truly rooted in evil and inspired by the devil? Then we can search out God’s Word to see what He has to say about this.

Origin of Halloween – A Short Overview

Halloween’s origin traces back to the ancient Celtic’s pagan festival of Samhein. The Celtics had over 300 gods and were heavily involved in demonic activity. They believed that on October 31st that the barrier between the supernatural (spiritual world) and natural world was thin and that all divine beings and the spirits of the dead moved freely among men and interfered sometimes violently, in their affairs. The Druids (pagan Celtic priests) would offer sacrifices, usually of crops and animals, but sometimes of humans, in order to placate the gods; ensuring that the sun would return after the winter; and frightening away evil spirits. During the celebration the Celtics wore costumes, usually of animal heads and skins, and attempted to tell each other’s fortunes.

Frightened villagers were afraid the spirits would destroy their crops and live stock so in order to appease the spirits they would leave fruits and treats on their doorsteps as offerings for the spirits. They were also fearful that the demon spirits would try to harm them if they found them. In an effort to trick the entities they would try to blend in among them by wearing scary masks and costumes.

Pumpkins or turnips were cut with faces representing demons and was intended to frighten away evil spirits. It was said that if a demon or such were to encounter something as fiendish looking as themselves that they'd run away in terror, thus sparing the houses dwellers from the ravages of dark entities. They would have been carried around the village boundaries or left outside the home to burn through the night.

Samhein was also a time when it was customary for the pagans to use the occult practice of divination to determine the weather for the coming year, the crop expectations, and even who in the community would marry whom and in what order.

Halloween Today

Halloween today is the witches new year. It is considered a sacred and holy day to Wiccans and Pagans. It is considered a Sabbath to honor the ancestors who came before them. It is still believed to be a good time to contact the spirit world with a séance, because the belief continues to be that the veil between this world and the next is the thinnest. So the tradition continues with the sacrifices and offerings to the spirits (demons) as well as the divination rituals.

But for those who are not Wiccan the Halloween spirit is still manifested through them whether they realize it or not. During the night of Halloween people all across the United States dress up in scary customs and go from door to door asking for treats. Teens and thrill seekers go to cemeteries hoping to get a glimpse of a ghost or spirit. Pumpkins are carved and placed in the window or porch. At Halloween parties people will often times entertain themselves with playing occult games such as Ouija boards, tarot cards, light as a feather stiff as board, fortune telling, and other games that invite demonic spirits. Scary movies are promoted and encouraged to watch. Tricks, pranks, and mischief will happen on Halloween more than on any other night. Theme parks promote Halloween horror nights where people can go and see the most graphic, gory, demonic, and evil costumes.

The Word of God

"Little children, let no man deceive you.." 1 John 3:7
"Abhor that which is evil, cleave to that which is good." Romans 12:9
“A final word: Be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power. Put on all of God’s armor so that you will be able to stand firm against ALL STRATEGIES OF THE DEVIL. For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places.” Ephesians 6:10-12

Our Lord has warned us to put on all of God’s armor so that we will be able to stand firm against all strategies of the devil. We are supposed to be soldiers in the army of God. Halloween is not the day to put down our swords and sup with the devil. We are to always be ready and alert like Gideon's soldiers were to defeat the enemy. It is apparent that Halloween is one of the devil’s strategies. It is a pagan celebration inspired by the god of this world, Satan. Everything that we do is to be done to glorify God. Does joining with the world to celebrate Halloween glorify God?

He seems to have many convinced that to participate in this celebration is innocent and it is merely dress up. He has blinded many from knowing the truth that it is in fact rooted in evil and witchcraft, inspired by him. He has beguiled some with compromise, who know the evil roots of the celebration but have convinced themselves and others into thinking it is ok to Christianize Halloween. Let us realize that compromise always comes with consequences.

Brothers and sisters..

“DON’T COPY THE BEHAVIOR AND CUSTOMS OF THIS WORLD, but let God transform you into a new person BY CHANGING THE WAY YOU THINK. Then you will learn to know God’s will for you, which is good and pleasing and perfect.” (Romans 12:2)

“Dear friends, I warn you as “temporary residents and foreigners” to keep away from worldly desires that wage war against your very souls. Be careful to live properly among your unbelieving neighbors. Then even if they accuse you of doing wrong, they will see your honorable behavior, and they will give honor to God when he judges the world.”

“Stay away from every kind of evil.” 1 Thessalonians 5:22

We are supposed to be different from the world. A people consecrated to God. We are only here temporarily to set the example of godly living, to be a light in the darkness, urging people to repent and turn back to God. Although we are in this world we are not to act like the world. We are supposed influence them, they are not to influence us. We must not allow our contacts with the world to pollute us. When we begin to mix our faith with the evil customs of this world we are teaching the world, young believers, and our own children that compromise is ok. This is how in the ends days one world religion will be accepted, through this slow fade, COMPROMISE. (James 1:27, Jeremiah 15:19)

What should Christians do?

“Take no part in the worthless deeds of evil and darkness; instead, expose them.” Ephesians 5:11

“Teach My people to distinguish between the unclean and the clean.” Ezekiel 44:23

Expose the strategy of the devil. Discourage them from participating in traditional Halloween activities. Redeem the day by educating our children and baby believers on the origin of Halloween and expose it’s demonic roots. Show them what the Word of God says about witchcraft, sorcery, and divination. Explain to them how they are called to be different. Assure them we have power through Christ Jesus over the forces of darkness. Then tell stories of how Christ worked in the lives of other believers to overcome the powers of darkness in their days and encourage them to allow God to use them too. If we reject the yeast of compromise now and implement this tradition with our children they will pass it down and they will not be afraid to stand up for what they know is true. They will not feel like they are missing out because they will want no part of anything that even looks evil. (Proverbs 22:6)

Elliot Watson from CBN.com advises after researching Halloween:

“To counter the evil influence of Halloween, we need to join together and celebrate the reality of the heroic efforts of Christian saints over the evil in their day. Many leaders in the past -- and present -- have fulfilled the mandate of destroying the works of the devil through their sacrificial commitment to Christ and His Kingdom.

Too, rather than “hide” in the face of evil, we should unabashedly and boldly create an alternative that is positive and uplifting; that celebrates good over evil and the triumph of God over Satan. We need to provide an environment that also makes room for heaps of fun while using the day as a “teachable moment” to celebrate God’s protection, provision and purpose for our lives.”

May the Holy Spirit minister to your heart His will for your family concerning the celebrating of Halloween.

Choose Your Friends Wisely

Choose Your Friends Wisely

Our Lord has a specific plan for each of our lives. We are His masterpiece, created anew in Christ Jesus, so we can do the good things that He planned for us long ago. We are citizens of heaven here on earth as foreigners for just a short season to fulfill God’s will and purpose. On our journey, we will meet many people who will impact our lives. Those we choose to call our “friends” are the ones who will probably have the most influence on us. They can help us fulfill our calling or serve as weights that will slow us down. Some will be a gift from God, and others will be tools in the hands of the enemy. That is why we must learn to choose our closest friends wisely. (Jeremiah 29:11, Ephesians 2:10, Philippians 3:20, Colossians 4:1-3, Ephesians 2:19)

“Bad company corrupts good character.” 1 Corinthians 15:33

I remember when I was a young teen, my mother would try to warn me about hanging out with the wrong crowd. She always finished her lecture by saying to me, “Lisa, birds of a feather flock together.” Of course I had that teen know-it-all attitude, and I would respond to her, “Mom, just because they do those things, or act like that, doesn’t mean I do or that I will.” I was so naïve. The more I hung out with them, the more I changed for the worse. I started to compromise everything good my parents had taught me. I listened to the advice of my friends more than I would listen to my mom who loved me with all of her heart and only wanted the best for me. She was right—I did start becoming part of their flock by looking, talking, and acting just like them.

She was trying to teach me to choose my friends wisely because she knew that if I hung out with people that did bad things, I could follow their influence and get in trouble. She wanted me to hang out with people who were doing positive things with their lives because she knew that if I followed their example, I too would reap the rewards of doing good. King David knew this also, and gave his sons the same advice. Listen to what he tells his sons…

“Oh, the joy of those who do not follow the advice of the wicked, or stand around with sinners, or join in with mockers.” Psalm 1:1

“I don’t spend time with liars or go along with hypocrites. I hate the gatherings of those who do evil, and I refuse to join in with the wicked.” Psalm 26:45

His advice stuck with son King Solomon too. Listen to what he says…

“Walk with the wise and become wise; associate with fools and get in trouble. Trouble chases sinners, while blessings reward the righteous.” Proverbs 13:20-21

“Don’t do as the wicked do; and don’t follow the path of evildoers. Don’t even think about it; don’t go that way. Turn away and keep moving.” Proverbs 4:14-15

No matter what age we are, we should choose our closest friends carefully. If our closest friends are ones who are backstabbers, haters of God, rebellious or unrepentant ‘Christians’, insolent, proud, boastful, drunkards, partiers, or gossipers, then we are in danger of allowing our contacts with these individuals to influence and corrupt us. We must realize that sin is like a little yeast that spreads through the whole batch of dough. We may not intend to participate in our friends’ sinful activities, but it is really easy to find ourselves compromising what we stand for, our values, and our morals, when we are spending excessive time bonding with others who refuse to acknowledge God, or have abandoned the Word for their own foolish ideas. Their sinful influence is like the yeast of compromise that will eventually spread through our minds and hearts, causing us to be torn between our beliefs and our friendship. (Galatians 5:9, 1 Corinthians 5:6-8, Romans 1:28-32)

Sooner or later, they will encourage us to participate in their sin. Maybe it’ll sound like this...

“It’s ladies night. We’re going dancing, come with us. There’s nothing wrong with dancing. It’s not a sin. You don’t have to drink if you don’t want to, but even Jesus drank wine.”

“Did you here that _______ is in trouble? She looks terrible! I ain’t one to gossip, so you didn’t hear this from me. But I heard…”

“I hooked up with this hot guy. He’s got a lady, but I don’t care. What she doesn’t know won’t hurt her. I’m hooking up with him tonight. He’s got a really hot friend! Come with us.”

These types of ‘friends’ are tools in the hands of the enemy, meant to cause us to stumble on our Christian journey. They will try to keep us from following the truth. It certainly isn’t God who put them there to test us. He never tempts us to sin. So let us strip off every weight that slows us down, especially these friendships that will trip us up. And let’s find friends that belong to our Good Shepherd’s flock. (Galatians 5:7-8, James 1:13, Hebrews 12:1-2)

“…Enjoy the companionship of those who call on the Lord with pure hearts.” (2 Timothy 2:22)

It is a blessing from God to have friends in our lives who love the Lord and long to please Him. He puts them in our path so that we can hold one another up as we go through this life’s trials, tests, and tribulations. Our Lord has placed some mighty women of God in my life who are full of God’s love and Spirit. Their Christ-like lives have impacted my life forever. They have shown me examples of being long suffering, patient, determined, forgiving, loving, faithful, submissive, honest, and hopeful. They have held up my arms in battle when I thought I could not go on any longer with their prayers and words of encouragement and admonishment. They are true friends, gifts from God, placed in my life to help me fulfill His calling. (Exodus 17:11-13)

We all should enjoy the companionship of friends who truly love the Lord with pure hearts, because they will come along aside of us to help us run this race instead of causing us to stumble. Since their desire is the same as ours, to live for Christ Jesus, they will be the conduits that God will use to help us on our journey.

We need true friends that will pray and intercede on our behalf, speak the Word of God into our lives, encourage us to be living witnesses of Christ Jesus, and who will want to hear our dreams and visions from God. Friends who will encourage and motivate us to step out in faith and trust what God is calling us to do for Him. We need friends who will challenge us to become the women of God that He created us to be. As iron sharpens iron, so these friends will sharpen us. (Proverbs 27:17)

When we have problems or temptations that we are facing, we need friends who will speak the Truth to us in love. A godly friend will bring us back to what the Word of God says about our situation, knowing that it is His Word that will set us free and give us hope. They will share with us how they overcome their struggles and temptation. They will encourage us to do what is pleasing to God. These are the types of friends we need in this sin infested world.

We must never lose sight of the fact that we are here in this world for such a time as this to be used by God and to fulfill His great purpose. Friendships with people who love the Lord will help us fulfill the vision and purpose that the Lord has put on our hearts. Friendships with people who live only to satisfy their sinful desires and gratify the cravings of their flesh will hinder us. It is time for us to come out from among them and enjoy the companionship of those who truly love the Lord.

May the Lord help us to evaluate our friendships and give us wisdom and the courage to separate ourselves from those ‘friends’ who are tools in the hands of the enemy. May He bring us friends that have a true heart for Him, and that will love us because of their love for Jesus.

Citizens of Heaven

“If the world hates you, remember that it hated me first. The world would love you as one of its own if you belonged to it, but you are no longer part of the world. I chose you to come out of the world, so it hates you.” John 15:18-19

We are no longer part of this world. We are here as ambassadors on earth. Our Lord chose us to come out of the world. We are citizens of heaven and therefore we must live as citizens of heaven, conducting our selves in a manner worthy of the Good News about Christ. Over and over again we see in the Word of God where we are given instructions on how to live as children of light and citizens of heaven. We are instructed to throw off our old sin nature and to leave our former way of life when we were living for the world. (Philippians 3:17-20, 1:27)

“With the Lord’s authority I say this: Live no longer as the Gentiles do, for they are hopelessly confused. Their minds are full of darkness; they wander far from the life God gives because they have closed their minds and hardened their hearts against him. They have no sense of shame. They live for lustful pleasure and eagerly practice every kind of impurity.

But that isn’t what you learned about Christ. Since you have heard about Jesus and have learned the truth that comes from him, throw off your old sinful nature and your former way of life, which is corrupted by lust and deception.” Ephesians 4:17-22

Since we have been raised to new life with Christ, we are to set our sights on the realities of heaven. We are to seek the kingdom of God and live rightly. We can not allow ourselves to be conformed to the world’s way of doing things and it’s views on life. We are to have the mind of Christ in everything we say and do. We must not copy of the behavior and the customs of this world, but we must allow the Word of God to transform our minds so that it lines up with the Word of God and not the word of men. (Colossians 3:1, Kingdom 6:33, Romans 12:2)

Too many ‘believers’ are allowing themselves to be deceived by the evil one and are going around saying foolish things against the Truth and supporting immoral behavior then claiming to be ‘Christians’. They see no problem with homosexuality, abortion, fornication, sexual promiscuity, participating in the darkness of wild parties and drunkenness, lying to cover their sin, quarreling, and jealousy. They have become attached to the things and customs of this world and allowed their contact with the world to corrupt their minds and ruin their testimony for Christ. They love the world and their selfish desires more than the Word of God. Instead of gathering souls with Christ they are scattering them by misrepresenting the church. (Matthew 12:30)

Brothers and sisters we have to be careful to not love this world. Remember what John said in 1 John 2:15-17 “Do not love this world nor the things it offers you, for when you love the world, you do not have the love of the Father in you. For the world offers only a craving for physical pleasure, a craving for everything we see, and pride in our achievements and possessions. These are not from the Father, but are from this world. And this world is fading away, along with everything that people crave. But anyone who does what pleases God will live forever.”

Our Lord has called us to come out of the world. To be different to stand up as citizens of heaven and speak the truth of God’s Word to the rest of the world even though others will say that we are zealots or radicals and peculiar people. The world will not receive us but that is ok because this is not our world anyways. We are only on a journey, a mission from God saved by Christ to share the Good News of salvation through Christ Jesus. Our hearts desire should be that none would perish but that all would be saved. God can use each us in these ends days to share the Gospel message with a perishing world if we will accept the call to come out of the world first and truly live for Christ. Our lives will be proof to them that we belong to Christ and that our treasures are in heaven.

Light Up The Room

“You are the world’s light-a city on a hill, glowing in the night for all to see. Don’t hide your light! Let it shine for all; let your good deeds glow for all to see, so that they will praise your heavenly Father.” Matthew 5:14-16

While I was shopping this past Christmas I found a beautiful mosaic candle holder. Its red and gold with two gold crosses on the front and on the back. I just had to get a closer look so I took it into my hands. As I held it I heard the Holy Spirit say,

“This candle holder is just like the believers. You are covered in the blood of Jesus and marked by the Holy Spirit with His mark. Your life was shattered into pieces and then I came and put the pieces back together for you. You are sealed with the Holy Spirit. You are beautiful and have become a beautiful mosaic that I have put my light in. When you are full of my Spirit you brighten the room and provide light and direction for others to find their way to Me.”

When I saw the price I just had to have it. As soon as I got home I immediately took this unique candle holder up to my bedroom where it would be safe from our many children. I put the candles in it and turned off the lights so that I could see its beauty. Just as I expected the cross gleamed in the darkness of my room. I couldn’t take my eyes of it. I just had to smile at the thought of being like this beautiful mosaic candle holder lighting up the darkness.

As believers I think that one of our hearts desires is to want to be the light in the darkness, to be the light in a dark room, in a dark world. We should honestly ask ourselves, “Do I bring light to what ever room I’m in with words of life and encouragement? Am I the light in my family, at my job, or at my school? Do others know that I belong to Christ? Does my walk match my talk?

You can tell if others know that you belong to Christ and see your light because they act different when you enter the room. Maybe they don’t curse as much, or apologize when they do, dirty conversations will stop when you walk in, and they respect the Holy Spirit in you. When you are around they want to act right or be good.

Our Lord has said that we are the world’s light-a city on a hill, glowing in the night for all to see. Don’t hide your light! Let it shine for all. Our Lord wants us to let everyone that comes into contact with us see the power of the Holy Spirit in our lives. We must be careful not to hide our light. We are hiding our light when we:

• Stay quiet when we know we should speak the Truth. Don’t be scared to speak the Word of God. He has not given us the spirit of fear but of power, of love, and of a sound mind. Remember that not everyone will receive what you have to say, but you have to trust the Lord’s promise that His Word never returns void, but it will accomplish all that He sent it out for, it will prosper. (2 Timothy 1:7, Isaiah 55:11)


• Compromise the Word of God and go along with the rest of the world. We are supposed to be different than the world. Our ways, thoughts, and desires should line up with the Word of God. If we look the same and act the same as the rest of the world then how will those who need Christ know that we are different? When unbelievers see us walking in love, caring for the needs of others, and speaking truth and life they will know that we are different and will be drawn to the Love that is in us. When we compromise they will think that we are no different then they are, lost in sin.


• Give into sin. We are no longer slaves to sin. When you are deadened to sin you are freed from all its allure and its power over you. So then we should not allow ourselves to get caught up in the former things that use to keep us in bondage or ensnared by new sinful practices. No one who has become part of God’s family makes a practice of sinning, for Christ, God’s Son, holds him securely and the devil cannot get his hands on him. (Romans 6:6-7, 1 John 5:18)


• Don’t share the Gospel with the many lost souls around us. We have been commissioned by Jesus Christ to share the Gospel with the world. It is not just the job of our pastor or the missionaries. You can not financially support some missionaries or your church and say that you have done your part. You are not to go to church to get full of the Word just to become a fatter Christian. Exercise by sharing the Gospel with others. The Lord will give you the Words to speak. (Matthew 28:18-20)


• Ignore the needs of others. But if someone who is supposed to be a Christian has money enough to live well, and sees a brother in need, and won’t help him-how can God’s love be within him? Let us stop saying we love people; let us really love them, and show it by our actions. Feed the hungry! Help those in trouble! Then your light will shine out from the darkness, and the darkness around you shall be as bright as day. And the Lord will guide you continually, and satisfy you with all good things, and keep you healthy too; and you will be like a well-watered garden, like an ever-flowing spring. (1 John 3:17-18, Isaiah 58:10—11)
  
  You are the light of this world. Don’t hide your light share it with others! Let your light shine! Light up the room!! Light up the world!! This is God’s will for our lives.

Overflow With Hope In Him

“So I pray for you Gentiles that God who gives you hope will keep you happy and full of peace as you believe in Him. I pray that God will help you overflow with hope in Him through the Holy Spirit’s power within you.” Romans 15:13

Up until Wednesday night my heart felt troubled and unsettled over the condition of our nation. To see the evil rebellion against the Judeo-Christian principles and values that this country was founded on and America fearlessly forsaking God brought great concern and turmoil to my spirit. I prayed and fasted, asking God to have mercy on us. It felt like I was in mourning for three days.

Then Wednesday night on my way to church I began to feel encouraged. I was excited and ready to get my worship on. There is something awesome about praising and worshipping the Lord in the sanctuary full of other believers. That’s exactly what my spirit needed and cried for. As we sang and lifted up His holy name I felt refreshed, excited, and expectant. The sadness lifted and I began to be filled with joy and peace knowing that our Lord, the King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ will be returning soon! I was overflowing with hope in Him!

While worshipping Jesus, His Spirit reminded me that He is always in control. I immediately knew that all that was happening in our nation was part of our Father’s master plan to usher in the return of our Lord and Savior. I remembered that one day every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that Jesus Christ is Lord. I was filled with emotion and determination to fulfill my calling in these end days. Then right before the next song Pastor Clay, who leads praise and worship, said these words..

“Up until last night many of us had pinned our hopes on 2 different men. And for many this morning there was great celebration and for many others there was great concern. These 2 men have represented to all of us to some degree a new hope. But it has also brought about a lot of concern and in some cases some division; and as we continue to worship may I share with you what God’s Word says about where our hope lies in. 1 Timothy 4 we read, we have put our hope in the living God who is the Savior of all men. So as we worship we know where our hope is and we pray for those in leadership and in authority. But at the end of the day it is God who guides. It is God who leads, whether they know it or not and that is our hope. And let us praise and worship His name.”

I knew that the time for mourning was over. Now is the time to rise up and stand to fight the good fight of faith. It is time for us to realize who we truly are! We are children of the Most High God! Power and dominion have been given to us to conqueror and overcome all things through Christ Jesus. Our calling is to boldly walk in that authority and stand up for the Word of God at all times, no matter what! Let us put our hope in Jesus (The Word of God) and never compromise our faith, making sure to run from anything that would cause us to stumble and fall into sin.

I leave you with Paul’s final instructions to Timothy in 1 Timothy 6:11-14 and I pray you heed His commands.



“Run from all these evil things and work instead at what is right and good, learning to trust Him and love others, and to be patient and gentle. Fight on for God. Hold tightly to the eternal life which God has given you, and which you have confessed with such a ringing confession before many witnesses.

I command you before God who gives life to all, and before Christ Jesus who gave a fearless testimony before Pontius Pilate, that you fulfill all he has told you to do, so that no one can find fault with you from now until our Lord Jesus Christ returns.”

Rescue those who are unjustly sentenced to die; save them as they stagger to their death. Don’t excuse yourself by saying, “Look, we didn’t know.” For God understands all hearts, and he sees you. He who guards your soul knows you knew. He will repay all people as their actions deserve.

"A new dawn of American leadership is at hand."

American's have made their choice. She has elected a leader who has promised that his first fruits as president of the United States of America would be to sign The Freedom of Choice Act. Signing the Freedom of Choice Act would over turn all 300 plus local, state, and federal abortion restriction laws, such as the partial birth abortion band and parental notification regulations for minors. A nation that once stood for God now goes against our country's Judeo-Christian values and principles. May God have mercy on us.

We as Christians were given the Bible (God's Word) as a literal guide for our lives and were therefore obligated to cast our votes for the candidates that best supported the positions and moral values set forth within its pages. To cast a vote that promotes or serves to further causes that are contrary to the commands and moral values given to us in God's Word by which we live, profess, teach, and witness, certainly does not reflect the will of God.

Now we will reap what we have sown because we have desired to have our own way and have become lovers of ourselves and money. The issues that should have mattered the most to us the moral issues of abortion, the homosexual lifestyle, and marriage were compromised. Many believers sided with the world and chose instead to put their hope in a man and his promise to restore our enconomy.

"When the righteous rule, the people rejoice; when the wicked rule, the people groan." (Pr. 29:2)

"Righteousness exalteth a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people." (Pr. 14:34)

Our leaders are to some extent a reflection of us. We often times become a reflection of our leaders! Remember King Ahab, may have been one the worst kings in the history of Israel. The Bible says that Ahab "provoked me (God) to anger and caused Israel to sin." (1 Kings 21:20-22)
One thing is for sure there will be change! Our new president will have a dramatic impact and influence on the country as a whole.

Let us pray and humble ourselves before Almighty God to have mercy on America. We know that our God is Almighty and Powerful. He is using this situation to fulfill prophecy that must come to pass. May our Lord give us the courage to continue to stand for Truth and the Word of God in the following days to come.

Is It Right In God's Eyes or Your Eyes?

My spirit is grieved within me. All day yesterday I kept hearing the Lord saying to me “In the end day’s people will do what they think is right in their own eyes.” I searched the Word until I found Judges 17:6 which says, “For in those days Israel had no king, so everyone did whatever he wanted to-whatever seemed right in his own eyes.”

God’s people did not care about their God and his standards for living. They had an attitude of doing whatever they wanted, not what God wanted for them. They had His laws and His directions but they still wanted to have their own way disregarding His Word. This sounds so familiar to the attitude that infuses our culture today. This mind-set does not just permeate the world but has also leaked into the church.

There are believers doing what they think is best for themselves, compromising God’s Word, ignoring what the Word (Jesus) says and hardening their hearts to the Truth. Have we forgotten that we are to be Christ like desiring God’s will for our life and not our own? Lord please have mercy on us.

We must be careful to not become like the children of Israel who constantly hardened their hearts against God and His will for their life. They did not believe Him, did not trust Him, and complained against Him. That generation of unbelieving, disobedient and rebellious people sealed their own fate and did not enter into the Promised Land.

“But,” God says, “I was very angry with them, for their hearts were always looking somewhere else instead of up to me, and they never found the paths I wanted them to follow.” Hebrews 3:10

“Beware then of your own hearts, dear brothers, lest you find that they, too, are evil and unbelieving and are leading you away from the living God. Speak to each other about these things every day while there is still time, so that none of you will become hardened against God, being blinded by the glamour of sin. For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as we did when we first became Christians, we will share in all that belongs to Christ.

But now is the time. Never forget this warning, “Today if you hear God’s voice speaking to you, do not harden your hearts against him..” Hebrews 3:12-15

The children of Israel had no king but we have the King of Kings, Jesus Christ. He is the Word of God. He is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. He is the standard that we as Christians are to follow. Our conduct and our opinions should be based on the Word of God. We can not allow ourselves to be conformed to this world, society’s attitudes, and ways of doing things. We are children of light and we must let our light shine for all to see by living the Word of God and standing for truth at all times. There is no room for compromise. These are perilous times. Everything we say and do counts.

“The whole Bible was given to us by inspiration from God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives; it straightens us out and helps us do what is right. It is God’s way of making us well prepared at every point, fully equipped to do good to everyone.” 2 Timothy 3:16

The Word of God must be our standard for living and making all decisions in our lives because His Word stands firm like a great rock, and nothing can shake it. His Word must be our guide not our own selfish desires or our own way of thinking. The Word (Jesus) is the only way. When making decisions we should ask ourselves is this right in God's eyes? Then see if it lines up with the Word of God.

Lord help us to stay on the narrow road. Gives us courage and faith to stand for truth. Let us not follow our own agenda or man’s agenda, but let us follow you. Our faith is in You alone..In Jesus name.. Amen.

Are You Ready To Fly

“So be prepared, for you don’t know what day our Lord is coming” (Matthew 24:42)

Do not ignore the signs of the times. These are crucial days that our Lord warned about in Matthew 24. There is war and rumors of war. Famine and pestilence is every where. Evil men are claiming to be Christ and there are false prophets doing wonderful works and miracles deceiving many. Even some of those who claim to know our Lord and His Word believe the works of these lying spirits.

Jesus said, “Just so when you see all these things beginning to happen, you can know that my return is near, even at the doors. Then at last this age will come to a close.” (Matthew 24:34)

Brothers and sisters in the Lord there is no more time to be playing around. We have to be prepared to fly. The rapture of the church can happen at any time. We are called to be strong in our faith looking forward to the return of our Lord Jesus Christ. We all have a specific job to do here on this earth. ALL OF US that are His are called to serve. Each of us has been given a special talent and gifting so that we could bring glory to His kingdom. He saved us to help fulfill the Great Commission (spreading the gospel to the ends of the earth).

Just as a man can prevent trouble from thieves by keeping watch for them, so you can avoid trouble by always being ready for our Lord’s unannounced return. Be a wise and faithful servant of our Lord by being about our Father’s business fulfilling the tasks that He has put on your heart. Allow Him to do His will in your life and use you to win others to the Lord. There will be blessings on you if He returns and finds you doing your work faithfully. (Matthew 24:43-47)

We must not allow ourselves to be entangled by this world and all of its distractions. We have to watch for his return and be on guard. We are God’s building stones which He is using to build His house/His church and Christ is our precious Cornerstone. The world and unbelievers are looking at us so we must be careful how we behave among them. Its God’s will for us to live good lives so that we silence those who have foolishly condemned the Gospel without even knowing what it could do for them; having never experienced its power. If we set the example and protect our witness they will end up praising God for our good works. (1 Peter 2: 11-17)

“Dear brothers, you are only visitors here. Since your real home is in heaven I beg you to keep away from the evil pleasures of this world; they are not for you, for they fight against your very souls.” (1 Peter 2:11)

But if you say to yourself, “Jesus is not coming back soon”, and you act like the rest of the world gratifying your flesh you will produce evil results just like the world: impure thoughts, eagerness for lustful pleasures, idolatry, spiritism, hatred and fighting, jealousy and anger, constant effort to get the best for yourself, complaints and criticisms, the feeling that everyone else is wrong except those in your own little group-and there will be wrong doctrine, envy, murder, drunkenness, wild parties, and all that sort of thing. Let me tell you that anyone living that sort of life will NOT inherit the Kingdom of God. (Galatians 5:19-21)


Instead let us acknowledge that we are in the end days and that Jesus will be returning to rapture His church soon. Be ready to fly. Live as children of light and of the day staying sober, protecting ourselves with the armor of faith and love, and wearing as our helmet the happy hope of salvation. (1 Thessalonians 5:4-8)

Serving One Another

Jesus the King of Kings and Lord of Lord’s to whom all power as been given, got on his hands and knees and washed his disciples feet because he loved them. He wanted to show them that because of His love for them He was willing to serve them to the point of getting down and dirty. He wanted them to understand that if they were to be leaders then they too would have to be willing to humble themselves and loving serve others.

(Matthew 13:1 & 4) Having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end. Rose from supper and laid aside His garments, took a towel and girded Himself. After that, He poured water into a basin and began to wash the disciples’ feet, and to wipe them with the towel with which He was girded.

He wasn’t afraid of what people thought of him. He stripped down and got to work. His Father had given all things into His hands. He had come from God and was going to God. He knew who He was and the power given to him and yet he was still willing to serve them to the point of washing their feet like the lowliest servant would do. This is true love and true leadership. This is the example that he longs for us to follow.

(Matthew 13:12-17) After washing their feet he put on his robe again and sat down and asked, “Do you understand what I was doing? You call me ‘Master’ and ‘Lord’, and you do well to say it, for it is true. And since I, the Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you out to wash each other’s feet. I have given you an example to follow: do as I have done to you.”

A true leader is also a servant. If Jesus is willing to serve, than we too as his servants must be willing to serve Him and others with a humble and meek heart. It does not matter what leadership responsibilities we have, our notoriety, or what our reputation maybe. If we are to be effective leaders than we must chose to serve others with a loving and compassionate heart.

What if we are called on by the church to help distribute food to the poor, minister in the prison, help out in children’s ministry, maybe even clean up a bathroom? Would we be willing to sacrifice our time? How would our attitude be? Could we do it lovingly?

How about at home? How do we serve our family? Do we feel because we have contributed that our work, our part is done? What if more was required? Do we serve in our own home without expecting something in return or needing recognition for our sacrifice? I truly believe with all my heart that ministry begins at home. If we are willing to serve outside of the home with sincere hopes of helping change someone’s life, then how much more should we be willing to serve our own family with those same hopes and expectations? May our Lord help us to be leaders willing to serve with a loving heart.

Lord, thank you for setting these examples for us to follow. They help humble us and put our lives into perceptive. Give us the heart of a servant. We long to follow your example and serve others in love. We reject any feelings of pride or superiority that may try to hinder our hearts from being more subservient. We thank you. In Jesus. Amen.

Consecrated To God

Consecrate means dedicated to a sacred purpose, to declare or set apart as sacred, and to dedicate solemnly to a service or goal. As believers we have been set aside for a special purpose; consecrated to God to spread the gospel and bring glory to Jesus. We are a chosen generation, a royal priesthood, a holy nation; set apart to be God’s holy people so that we may proclaim the praises of Him who called us out of darkness into his marvelous light. (1 Peter 2:9-10)

 Truly living ‘consecrated to God’ means being holy because our God is holy.

“You shall consecrate yourselves therefore and be holy, for I am the Lord your God”. (Leviticus 20:7)
“But as He who called you is holy, you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written, “Be Holy, for I am holy.” (1 Peter 1:15-16)

Paul commands that we pursue holiness. He said, ‘Let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God.” Being holy does not mean being perfect. We are still going to make mistakes and sin while we are here in this sinful earth, but we are not to make a practice of sinning. (Hebrews 12:14, 2 Corinthians 7:1)

 Truly living ‘consecrated to God’ means not conforming to the world’s way but being separated from the world and drawing closer to God.

The Lord said, “Come out from among them. And be separate.” He does not want us to think and act like the rest of the world. We are not to copy the behavior and customs of this world. We have to be new and different people in all that we do and think. We are to be living sacrifices, holy, and acceptable to God, this is our reasonable service to Him after all that He has done for us. (2 Corinthians 6:17-18, Romans 12:1-2, 2 Corinthians 5:17)

Now that we have been consecrated to the Lord we must draw closer to God and he will draw close to us. This means trusting the Lord, really seeking to know Him, and being submitted to His Word. (2 Chronicles 29:31, James 4:8, 2 Chronicles 7:14, Psalm 105:4)

 Truly living ‘consecrated to God’ means setting our on minds on the things of the Spirit and the Word of God, resulting in good fruit and sanctification.

“For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit.” (Romans 8:5) Being lead by the Spirit through the Word of God will produce the fruits of the Spirit, instead of the destructive works of the flesh. (Romans 8:5, Galatians 5:16-23)

The Holy Spirit and the truth of God’s Word sanctify and cleanse us. The Word renews our minds so that we no longer think and act like the world. God’s Holy Spirit strengthens our inner man helping us to do His will. (Romans 15:16, 1 Corinthians 6:11, 1 Peter 1:2, John 17:17, Ephesians 3:16, 5:26)

When we received the Lord we became new creations. We were sanctified-cleansed and given right standing with God by the blood of Jesus. We are pilgrims awaiting the return of our Redeemer called to live holy, set apart, and sanctified lives here on earth. Living consecrated to God means turning from evil and all known sin, being prepared for God to use us. It is a way of life. (1 Corinthians 1:2, 6:11)

Lord, help us to live our lives pleasing to you. Let us long to be different from the world. Allow us to fulfill the calling on our lives and bring glory to you in everything that we do. In Jesus name…Amen.

God's Will For Your Life

These are crucial times. We must not take our salvation, our blessings, and the Holy Spirit for granted. We need to be about our Father’s business. Not just sometimes, all the time! We were lost in sin, serving our selves and the enemy, on our way to hell before we accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior. We should now spend each day that we have left here on this earth renewing our minds and serving God by spreading the Gospel. That is our purpose and His will for our new lives in Christ Jesus.

“How much more, then, will the blood of Christ, who through the eternal Spirit offered himself unblemished to God, cleanse our consciences from acts that lead to death, so that we may serve the living God!” Hebrews 9:14

We need to follow the example of the early believers who lived by the Word of God. They were distinguished by their unconditional love, separation from the world, and childlike obedience to Jesus Christ teachings. They were on fire for the Lord. They did not just speak great things they lived them! They turned the world upside down. (Acts 17:6) They shared their faith even if it meant persecution and their physical death. They understood that the Gospel needed to be preached at all cost because people’s souls are at stake.

When need that same fire! Many professing Christians today do nothing to benefit the Kingdom once they have been saved and then go around criticizing those who long to please him. We can not be content with remaining babies in the Lord and always needing someone to feed us. We can not continue to live selfish lives in disobedience to God full of bondage partying, drinking, smoking, back biting, and so on. We are called to live to a higher standard. People should be able to see the difference between us and the world. Some of us are so caught up trying to accumulate material things, riches, fame, or success that we have pushed God’s will to the back burner. We don’t have time for Him or those that He wants to use us to save. Remember Jesus said, “No one can serve two masters” “For what will it profit if a man gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” (Matthew 6:24, Mark 8:36)

According to The Way of the Master ministry 150,000 people die every 24 hours-most without the Savior. Statistics show that only 5% of Christians reach out to the lost. This is so sad! As believers it’s time to step up. The world needs to see God’s love in and through us. They need to see Christians that are loving, patient, giving, compassionate, and self sacrificing. If they see these attributes in us, God’s attributes, they will be drawn to us. They will be drawn to Jesus in us. They will want that Peace and Hope that we have. They will come to know the Lord because of the light that we shine.

It’s time rise up and be serious about our salvation and our commit to serve the Lord. The harvest is plentiful by the workers are few. Like our pastor recently said “Get off the fence”. Someone needs to hear your story. Someone needs you to pray for them. Someone needs YOU to lead them to the Savior. (Matthew 9:37-38)

Lord, thank you for your Holy Spirit which equips us to fulfill your calling on our lives. We want to be used by you to save lost souls. Open our eyes to see every opportunity that comes our way to present the gospel and give us the courage to share our faith. In Jesus name..Amen.

Reject Compromise

It is important to keep your conscience clear. We must be careful not to fall into the temptation to compromise the Word of God by trying to justify that certain things are a little wrong, are not that bad, or everyone is doing it. The more we compromise and convince ourselves that something is not that bad we harden our hearts by going against our own conscience. As result our faith will be watered down, weak, and reduced in quality. We will eventually start losing our faith.

“Cling tightly to your faith in Christ and always keep your conscience clear, doing what you know is right. For some people have disobeyed their consciences and have deliberately done what they knew was wrong. It isn’t surprising that soon they lost their faith in Christ after defying God like that.” 1 Timothy 1:18-19

When we compromise we are defying God and His Word. We must take each commandment and reject any thought of compromise. There can be no additions or subtractions from His Word. We are not to turn to the left or to the right, whatever He commands must be done. All His rules about all things are right, and every false way should be hated. Every word of God is pure, and any addition to them will make us a liar. (Deut 4:2, Deut. 5:32, Deut. 12:32, Joshua 1:7, Ps. 119:128, Prov. 30:5-6, )

The world is constantly compromising its standards. There are women justifying having abortions because they have made a decision to donate their fetus for research. This justification is reducing their moral and ethical standards because they have convinced themselves that they are doing something good. Nations are accepting and recognizing gay marriage-Canada, Belgium, Netherlands, Norway, South Africa, and Spain. Even more allow same-sex partnerships or unions. There are even Us states that have compromised the definition of marriage and now recognize or allow gay marriage and same-sex partnerships or unions- California, New Jersey, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, New Hampshire, Oregon, Vermont, and Washington.

But we are not to be like the world. Although we are in this world we are not of the world. Therefore we must be different. We must not allow our contacts with the world to contaminate and defile us. Our standards are to be in line with the Word of God. Compromise with the world and its things proves the lack of any love for God. (1 John 2:15-17)

If we read and study God’s word daily we will learn to love the Lord, His Word, and His commands. We will begin to see that every command and instruction that He gives us for daily living is full of wisdom and power to help us live victoriously, and win souls for His kingdom. We will not want to compromise His Word because we understand that He knows what is best for us and we trust Him. When we compromise we are selfishly gratifying our own evil desires. Jesus prefers us hot (zealous) or cold (pagans), but not lukewarm (compromisers). (Rev. 3:15-16)

May the Lord help us to be doers of His Word and not just hearers. May we reject compromise and cling tightly our faith. In Jesus name…Amen

Your Mission Field

This past Friday night I went to the First Priority Campus Club Kick Off 2008 meeting with my teenage daughters. First Priority is a ministry that encourages, empowers, and equips middle and high school Christian students in public schools to share their faith and spread the gospel on their campus. These children are learning that it is no coincidence that they attend their specific school. It’s no coincidence that they sit next to that certain kid in class. The Lord planted them there to be a light in the darkness. Their school is their mission field. He will use them to reach the other children who so desperately need the Savior. Our Heavenly Father allowed these children to be there to fulfill the great commission that Jesus gave.

Matthew 28:18-20 Jesus came and told his disciples, “I have been given all authority in heaven and on earth. Therefore, go and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit. Teach these new disciples to obey all the commands I have given you. And be sure of this: I am with you always, even to the end of the age.”

We can follow these children’s example and allow God to use us where we have been planted. It is not a coincidence that you work for your company. God allowed your desk, office, or station to be right where it is for a purpose. He wants you to be the conduit He uses to spread the love of Christ on your job site. Your job is your mission field. He wants your co-workers to see what a true Christian is. Remember that unbelievers go by what they see. You can lead your co-workers to the Lord by setting the right example and being a living testimony. Here are some ways to let your light shine on your mission field.

Ø Have enthusiasm and remember you work for the Lord. – “Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people. Remember that the Lord will reward each one of us for the good we do, whether we are slaves or free. (Ephesians 6:7-8)
Ø Do your job diligently and with a good attitude. – “Work hard and cheerfully at all you do, just as though you were working for the Lord and not merely for your masters.” (Colossians 3:23)
Ø Be trustworthy. – “Trustworthy messengers refresh like snow in summer. They revive the spirit of their employer. (Proverbs 25:13)
Ø Respect your employer. Do your best to please them in and out of their presence. – “Slaves must always obey their masters and do their best to please them. They must no talk back or steal, but must show themselves to be entirely trustworthy and good. Then they will make the teaching about God our Savior attractive in every way. (Titus 2:9-10)
“Slaves, obey your earthly masters with deep respect and fear. Serve them sincerely as you would serve Christ. Try to please them all the time, not just when they are watching you. As slaves of Christ, do the will of God with all your heart. Work with enthusiasm, as though you were working for the Lord rather than for people.

Lord, thank you for the job that you have given us. We want to fulfill the great commission that Jesus gave us on our work sites and in our schools. Teach us to walk in love and be living testimonies for all to see. Thank you for giving us the words to speak to those who need to hear the gospel. In Jesus Name…Amen

Meekness-Power Under Control

Recently the Lord gave me clear instructions on how to handle one of my most recent battles. He said “learn meekness”. “Be lead of the Spirit and walk in love. Practice self control and don’t let yourself become upset. Meekness is power under control.”

I have never really meditated on meekness or what it truly means, until now. The more I searched the scriptures and read about the life of Christ I begin to realize that meekness is a fruit of the Holy Spirit that I desperately need if I want to live a successfully Christian life. (Galatians 5:23)

During my studies I found a lesson titled Jesus: The Meek on http://www.thebiblewayonline.com/ . Here is an excerpt from the lesson:

"Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth", Jesus said in Matthew 5:5. What does it mean to be meek? According to our dictionary, to be meek means you are "showing patience and humility, gentleness ... easily imposed upon, submissive". The meek one doesn't throw fits or fly off the handle under pressure. A good synonym is "gentle". A meek person is under control. To be meek does not mean to be weak. A horse, before it is tamed, is strong but, being wild, is useless to man. After being tamed it does not lose its strength. It just becomes tamed, controlled and useful. A good definition for meekness is "strength under control". (Jesus: The Meek)

Now..Imagine if we developed the character of meekness by allowing the Holy Spirit to control our lives. We will have self control and not want to lash out when someone angers, persecutes, or provokes us. Instead we will be gentle and compassionate thinking about the other person and how our reaction will affect them. We will want our actions to reflect the love of God.

Being meek doesn’t mean that we allow ourselves to be pushed around. We must not compromise our faith, integrity, or standards. We are still to stand for truth justice, and fight against the attacks of the enemy. We just need to do it in love, gentleness, and self control.

It seems to me that meekness is a matter of walking in love.

Ø Speak evil of no man, to be no brawlers, but gentle, shewing all meekness unto all men. Titus 3:2

Ø I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; Ephesians 4:2

Being meek when someone is attacking or persecuting us will be difficult. However, it is NOT impossible with the help of the Holy Spirit. Psalms 147:6 says “The Lord lifts up the meek.” So let us humble ourselves for Christ sake and allow the fruit of meekness to grow in our lives so that we may be bring glory to God.

God's Spirit Lives In You

When you received Jesus as your Savior the Spirit of God came to dwell in you. We who believe are carefully joined together with Christ as parts of a beautiful, constantly growing temple of God. We are His home. God’s Spirit is not far away. He is in you and with you all the time!

Take a moment and really let that sink in…

God’s Spirit lives in you! You are the temple of God!

If you truly meditate on this Word it should be life changing. We are supposed to keep God’s home holy and clean. We are not to defile or spoil it. (1 Corinthians 3:16-17) Knowing that God lives in us should really help us be more accountable and aware of what we do, say, think, where we go, and who we spend time with. We do not belong to our selves. God bought us with a high price. So we MUST honor God with our bodies. (1 Corinthians 6:19-20)

Smoking, drinking, doing drugs, going to sinful places, listening to sinful music, and watching in appropriate shows or movies defile the temple of God. His Spirit lives in you offering you help and guidance in this life. His Spirit encourages you when you need comfort. So don’t ignore the Holy Spirit when he is nudging on your heart to stop what you are about to do.

You see the Holy Spirit is constantly trying to do a work in and thru us. His Spirit in us is what helps us to express Jesus’ actions and attitudes in our lives. He is God’s fire dwelling in the believer. The Holy Spirit has emotions. Ephesians 4:30 says, “And do not bring sorrow to God’s Holy Spirit by the way you live. Remember, he has identified you as his own, guaranteeing that you will be saved on the day of redemption.” Or another translation reads “Do not GRIEVE the Holy Spirit of God, by whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.” We bring the Holy Spirit sorrow when we act out in sinful manner and when we follow our own worldly desires.

Those who say they live in God should live their lives as Christ did. (1 John 2:6) We are to follow God’s example in everything we do because we are his children. We need to try to find out what is pleasing to the Lord by reading the Word constantly. The Word of God will help us remain pure by showing us what is wrong in our life so that we are constantly changing and becoming more like Christ. (Ephesians 5:1-13)

And so dear brothers and sisters, I plead with you to give your bodies to God. Let them be a living and holy sacrifice, the kind God will accept. When you think of what He has done for you, is this too much to ask? Don’t copy the behavior and customs of this world, but let God transform you into a new person by changing the way you think. Then you will know what God wants you to do and you will know how good, pleasing, and perfect His will really is. (Romans 12:1-2)

Forgive us Holy Spirit for causing you sorrow. Remind us constantly that you are with us and in us. Let us be lead by your Spirit Lord and help us to bring your name glory in everything we say and do..In Jesus name.. Amen…

Jesus Freak!

When you decide to follow Jesus with all of your heart those closest to you will notice. All of a sudden you talk different. You have become more aware of the things that come out of your mouth. You no longer want to hang out in those places that will cause you temptation or ruins your testimony. You are truly different!

You now have a desire to please God so you begin to reevaluate your life. This process can often be difficult. Your friends and family may not understand. They may not even agree. So don’t be surprised if you are being persecuted from those closest to you. You may be called extreme or a Jesus Freak. Some may even feel the need to bring up what the old you was up to just months, weeks, or even days before you surrendered to Christ Jesus.

Don’t be discouraged! Jesus was persecuted and we will be persecuted too because we belong to Him. (John 15:20) Keep diligently doing God's will. You will no longer be spending the rest of your life chasing after evil desires. You have had enough in the past of the evil things the godless enjoy- sex, sin, lust, getting drunk, wild parties, drinking bouts, and the worship of idols, and the other terrible sins.

Of course your former friends will be very surprised when you don’t eagerly join them any more in the wicked things they do, and the will laugh at you in contempt and scorn. But just remember that they must face the Judge of all, living and dead. They will be punished for the way they have lived. Thank God daily for your salvation. (1 Peter 4:3-5)

Don’t repay evil for evil. Don’t snap back at those who say unkind things about you. Instead pray for God’s help for them, for we are to be kind to others, and God will bless us for it.

Be a strong living testimony for all your friends and family to see. Walk in love and pray for them constantly. Be prepared at all times to give an account of why you believe the way you do in a gentle and respectful manner. (1 Peter 3:8) Remember that our Lord called you to Him so that He could use you to minister His love to others. Don't be ashamed to be a Jesus Freak!

May God give you strength and courage on your journey to becoming His vessel of honor.

"Meet Me At The Club...It's Going Down"

It's Friday night, just got paid, babysitter is coming over, and I am ready to unwind. Off to dinner and then dancing and with our friends. That used to be me and I don't mean before I was saved and professing Christ. I used to love clubbing every weekend or going to Fat Tuesdays on the beach. My husband and I love dancing. It seemed harmless because I really did not plan to drink all that much. Beside I was with my husband. My plan would be to have one or two drinks because someone had to be the "good one" who knew moderation, plus I was usually the designated driver.

But the more I began going to church and reading the bible my desires starting changing. I began feeling like I was doing something wrong. At first I would still go to the club or bar but I noticed that every time I went I perceived my surroundings much differently. It's like God lifted a veil off of my eyes. What used to seem harmless and fun now seemed dangerous and destructive. Guys and girls would hit on me and husband provoking an altercation. They didn’t care that we were together. The majority of the girls dress so provocative that it's almost impossible for men not to look at them and have lustful thoughts. Most of the people excessively drink and dancing has become mainly bumping and grinding. Lack of self control was no longer appealing to me.

The Lord kept reminding me that I was to be a living testimony to others, especially my children. I knew in my heart that being in those places was destroying my witness. I would read the bible and see scriptures that would speak so clearly to me about this issue saying,

“Don’t participate in the darkness of wild parties and drunkenness”- Romans 13:12-13
“People that participate in wild parties will not inherit the Kingdom of God”-Galatians 5:18-21
“You are all children of the light and of the day, and do not belong to darkness and night. So be on your guard not asleep like the others. Watch for his return and stay sober. Night is the time for sleep and the time when people get drunk. But let us who live in the light keep sober..”- 1 Thessalonians 5:4-8

It was clear to me that I needed to leave the party days behind me.

I know that there is someone reading this that is struggling with this issue just like I did. God wants the best for you. You were cleansed by the blood of Jesus so that you could become a new creature. You are supposed to be different from the world and its ways, not blending in. Partying and clubbing is part of your “sinful nature”. For your own good do not ignore the Holy Spirit. He is leading you into truth and freedom so that you can bring glory to God. So look upon your old sin nature as dead and unresponsive to sin and instead be alive to God. (Romans 6:11)

Come Out of the World

Come out of the world. This world is not our home. We must not act like the rest of the world. We are children of God. We are called to be holy and live blameless so that we do not ruin our testimonies. We must be different from the world in all that we do, the way we act and react, the way we handle our affairs, and the way we raise our children. How will they know that we are His if we act just like the rest of the world?

Our life here is only temporary. As children of God we are to remember that Jesus suffered a brutal death for us so that we could be in right standing with God. This is not to be taken lightly. We are to honor our God and act accordingly. We are called to be the light and salt of this world. We can not be that if we are consumed by worldly friends and activities. What harmony can there be between Christ and the devil. I urge you not to unequally yolk yourselves with those who do not love the Lord or those who claim to love the Lord but who have made a practice of sinning. You do not need that type of influence. (2 Corinthians 6:14-18, 1 Corinthians 5:11)

Jesus can return at any day so we must be about our Father’s business. You must let your light shine in the darkness. We must live in this world and remain true to God and not soiled and dirtied by our contacts with the world. (James 1:27) We can not continue to ignore God and get away with it. A man will always reap just the kind of crop he sows. If he sows to please his own wrong desires, he will be planting seeds of evil and he will surely reap a harvest of spiritual decay and death; but if he plants the good things of the Spirit; he will reap the everlasting life which the Holy Spirit gives him. (Galatians 6:7-9)

So let us conduct ourselves as children of light. You have had enough in the past of the evil things the godless enjoy-sex, sin, lust, getting drunk, wild parties, drinking bouts and other terrible sins. (1 Peter 4:3) Ask the Lord to help you live as you should and don’t continue to harden your heart and make plans to sin lest the Lord give you over to your sinful desires. (Romans 13:11-13) Put on the armor of right living as we who live in the daylight should and let us be a holy living sacrifice the kind that God can accept. (Romans 12:1-2)

Take Responsibility

As Christians we are suppose to be different from the world. We are not supposed to act the way the world does. We are not supposed to react the way the world does when things do not go our way.

As along as we are here in this world full of sin we may fall but we must not make a practice of ignoring the Holy Spirit in us and sin because we know that God will continue to forgive us. God has called us to be holy. He never tells us to do something that He himself will not equip us to do.

Do not ignore your sin. Take responsibility for your actions. Don’t try to blame it on the devil all the time. He can only be blamed for trying to influence us. He does not control us any longer. So that your prayers will continue to be answered, learn to quickly repent and ask forgiveness from God and from those you may have hurt or offended. Constantly evaluate yourself. Ask God to examine your heart and motives. Our heavenly Father will be faithful to lovingly show us areas of immediate concern that He would like us to submit to Him.

Others are constantly looking at us and trying to determine are we really different. The way we present ourselves will either positively or negatively affect those around us who may be searching for the Truth.

What will they say when they see you Christian. Will they see the fruit of the Spirit in your life? Will they see love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self control? What about the ones that know the real you? Your family what fruit do they see?

May our Lord Jesus help us to walk in love and be a light in this dark world. Amen.
