Do you ever feel like you have to be perfect to be accepted by God? Stop. We were accepted by God when we believed in our hearts and confessed with our mouth Jesus Christ as our Lord and Savior. All of our sins were washed away and thrown down to the ocean floor to be remembered no more. Jesus came to save sinners that are far from perfect. Jesus came to save prostitutes, liars, drunks, murders, all sinners.
A "perfect" Christian is one whose heart and mind is permanently committed to Christ, cannot be moved. Our desire to be perfect, to change, and to live a life pleasing to God is evidence that He is working in our hearts. As long as we are here in this flesh we will always have a battle with sin and temptation, but we can do all things through Christ. Greater is He that is in us than any temptation that we will ever encounter. He will continue the good work that He has started in us and as we learn to know God more we will become more like Christ who is our example of perfection.
Draw close to God and he will draw close to you. Meditate on his word daily. God promises to bring to remembrance what you have read and studied. He will help you to do what His word says. He will bless you for your obedience and commitment to Him. Be encouraged knowing that you are a child of God and you were accepted by Him when you invited His son to live in your heart.
