Moving Backwards Instead of Forward - Do What God Has Called You To DO!

Over the past couple of weeks I have felt a leading to read the book of Jeremiah. I am ashamed to say that I knew that upon reading it the Spirit would reveal to me a Word of reproach that our Lord wanted to speak to me and through me, so I prolonged reading it. I guess the truth is that there is still this fleshly side of me that longs to be accepted and not persecuted for speaking God’s Word. But I love Him too much not to allow His Spirit to speak through me. I love Him with all my heart and I long to please Him and be His faith filled handmaiden; therefore I must be obedient to His leading. He constantly reminds me that if I am going to try to win the approval of people, then I will not find approval with Him. If pleasing people ever becomes my goal, then I could NOT be Christ’s servant. (Galatians 1:10)

I only got to chapter 6 when I had to start writing this. My spirit is so grieved within me. All our heavenly Father has ever wanted was for us was to truly surrender our pride and power. He has wanted us to trust Him and change our hearts before Him. He wants us to be humbly sorry for our sins. To go before Him with broken and contrite hearts, with weeping and mourning because of the sins that we have committed, instead of acting nonchalant and ignoring the Holy Spirit’s tugging at our hearts to do what is right. He wants us to have a reverential fear of Him. A holy respect and honor for our God that will keep us on the narrow road that leads to life. He wants our obedience.

All we have to do is acknowledge our guilt, admit that we have rebelled against the Lord and wanted our own way, and confess that we refused to listen to His voice. Can’t we see that His kindness and patience has always been meant to lead us to repentance? But so many take His kindness for granted and continue in their rebellion and sin forgetting that our God sees everything. There is no where that we can hide from His Spirit. We can hide from others. We can lie to them and to ourselves, but we cannot lie to our omnipresent God.

There is a lack of reverential awe for God in the church today. This lack of fearing the Lord has caused many believers to ignore the direction the Lord is giving them for their lives. Many Christians are refusing to receive the Lord’s correction and then are wondering why their families are falling apart, their businesses are in trouble, their finances are mess, and they have no peace. They are doing work for God and making sacrifices in Jesus name, but they have forgotten what the Lord told His people when He led them out of Egypt. Listen to what the Spirit of the Lord says through Jeremiah about this,

This is what the Lord of Heaven’s Armies, the God of Israel, says: “Take your burnt offerings and your other sacrifices and eat them yourselves! When I led your ancestors out of Egypt, it was not burnt offerings and sacrifices I wanted from them. This is what I told them: ‘Obey Me, and I will be your God, and you will be My people. Do everything as I say, and all will be well!’ “But My people would not listen to Me. They kept doing whatever they wanted, following the stubborn desires of their evil hearts. They went backward instead of forward..” Jeremiah 7:21-24

How many of us today feel like we have moved backwards instead of forward. If so then we need to allow the Holy Spirit to show us where we have gone wrong. Where we have rebelled and refused to listen to the Lord and instead followed our own desires. We need to get back to doing what we know is right. We need to get back to truly loving God. Loving Him means obeying Him. That is how we truly know that we are in Him. Jesus said, “If you love Me, obey My commandments.” (John 14:15)

1 John 2:3-6 says, “And we can be sure that we know Him if we obey His commandments. If someone claims, “I know God,” but doesn’t obey God’s commandments, that person is a liar and is not living in the truth. But those who obey God’s word truly show how completely they love Him. That is how we know we are living in Him. Those who say they live in God should live as Jesus did.”

It is time for us to start living in the truth. No matter what our Lord is calling us to do, whether it’s something we need to change, to leave behind, to surrender to Him, to step out in faith and go, the time has come to step out in obedience and faith. Remember that He has promised to never leave us or forsake us. He never asks us to do something that He has not equipped us to do. Sometimes we will not feel equipped for what or where He is calling us, but we have to believe that He will honor our obedience and give us everything we need to do His will.

Don’t be fooled when we know what we ought to be doing and instead we choose to ignore God’s direction, then we are in sin and rebellion against God. (James 4:17) We can be sure that because He loves us so much that we will receive His divine discipline and punishment if we don’t repent and do His will. Oh but too many believers are following teachings of those who water down the Word and glorify a God that they have made up that is so merciful and forgiving that He does not judge, correct, punish or rebuke us. But this is not the God of the bible. This is not our Heavenly Father. You see our Lord disciplines those He loves, and He punishes each one He accepts as His child. He disciplines us so that He can produce a harvest of right living in us. (Hebrews 12:5-12)

No more excuses it’s time to do what He has called you to do! If not, your rebellion will deprive you of wonderful blessings. Your sin will rob you of many good things that the Lord has planned for you. (Jeremiah 5:23-25)

“Stop at the crossroads and look around. Ask for the old, godly way, and walk in it. Travel its path, and you will find rest for your souls.” Jeremiah 6:16

Brothers and sisters it is time for us to go before the Lord and humble ourselves in His presence asking Him to forgive us for being rebellious and giving in to fear, doubt, anger, bitterness, unbelief, compliancy, or whatever other hindrances’ we have allowed to keep us from obeying His direction. He will not reject a broken and contrite heart. If you want to see change in your life then it’s time to humble yourself before the Lord, and He will lift you up in honor. Make a choice today stop moving backwards and start moving forward. (James 4:7-10)

A Call To Anguish

Brothers and sisters listen to the what the Spirit of the Lord is saying here through brother Wilkerson. May your soul and spirit be convicted. May God allow you to feel His anguish for what is going on around us. May we be moved to mourn, fast, and seek God like never before. May we not go one more day without His passion in our hearts. It's time to be true lover's of God without fear of what our friends, family, or the world have to say. Let us stop seeking things in this world that will only bring us temporary satisfication and serve as distractions. Let us begin to seek to do God's will like never before! No more half stepping! No more sitting on the fence! No more being lukewarm Christians! Let us be about our Father's business. This is a call to anguish!

Remembering His Sacrifice Daily

“When we were utterly helpless, Christ came at just the right time and died for us sinners. Now, most people would not be willing to die for an upright person, though someone might perhaps be willing to die for a person who is especially good. But God showed his great love for us by sending Christ to die for us while we were still sinners. And since we have been made right in God’s sight by the blood of Christ, he will certainly save us from God’s condemnation. For since our friendship with God was restored by the death of his Son while we were still his enemies, we will certainly be saved through the life of his Son. So now we can rejoice in our wonderful new relationship with God because our Lord Jesus Christ has made us friends of God.” Romans 5:6-11

During the Easter season believers and followers of Christ remember the awful torture that our Lord quietly endured for our sins. We know that He did not deserve to die because He was sinless and innocent. There was no wrong found in Him. He was murdered by those who feared His influence and authority. They wanted to silence Him and the Truth that He spoke. He was the spotless lamb lead to the slaughter to become the ultimate sacrifice for all of our sins. He died so that all who believed in Him could have right standing with God. (John 3:16)

We not only reflect on the extreme act of love that He showed by laying down His life for us but we rejoice in the fact that death had no power over Him. He was resurrected from the grave on the third day just as the prophets spoke. Now all followers of Christ rejoice in this because we know that He is the first of a great harvest of all who have died believing in Him who will also be resurrected. Death has lost its sting!

My personal favorite reflection during this resurrection holiday is meditating on the fact that the veil in the temple in Jerusalem that separated the Holy Place from the Most Holy Place was torn from top to bottom. This veil was a representation of how sinful man is separated from God. But when Jesus died with our sins on that cross that veil was miraculously torn symbolizing that now all believers in Christ can go into the presence of God for help, to worship, and to give thanks, it no longer has to be just the high priest. Because of the shed blood of Jesus our sin no longer separates us from God. (Hebrews 4:16)

“And so, dear brothers and sisters, we can boldly enter heaven’s Most Holy Place because of the blood of Jesus. By his death, Jesus opened a new and life-giving way through the curtain into the Most Holy Place. And since we have a great High Priest who rules over God’s house, let us go right into the presence of God with sincere hearts fully trusting him. For our guilty consciences have been sprinkled with Christ’s blood to make us clean, and our bodies have been washed with pure water.

Easter isn’t the only time that we should reflect on the death and resurrection of our Lord. We should reflect daily on the sacrifice that our Lord made for us and remember that He died so that we could live our life here on earth more abundantly. Not for us to be walking around beat up and overcome by the trials and tests that we must go through. He died not only that we could be saved but so that we could manifest in our lives the power of the Holy Spirit and the love of Christ Jesus. By manifesting His power and love in our lives others will see and be drawn to Him. They will desire the peace, joy, love, patience, perseverance, kindness, and power that they see in our lives.

If we truly love the Lord with all of our hearts then we too will lay down our lives for Him and become living sacrifices. We will become living testimonies, His conduits of love, and vessels of honor used to bring Him glory.

“There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” John 15:13

Father let us not ever take for granted what Jesus did for us. Let us remember His sacrifice daily and may that motivate us to truly be about Your business. Help us to love others more and share the Gospel of Christ without fear of persecution but with a spirit of power of love and a sound mind. May Christ our Lord be glorified in all that we do..in Jesus name..Amen..

Fearing the Lord

In January my daughters and I began to read a chapter of Proverbs a day for our morning devotionals. Throughout the month we noticed that ‘Fear the Lord’ or ‘Fear of the Lord’ is mentioned many times. My daughter and I were interested to know how many times it is mentioned and why it is mentioned so often in the book of Proverbs. We agreed that the Lord wants us to really grasp the meaning and the importance of fearing Him. So I decided to look further into this topic.

I found that ‘Fear the Lord’ or ‘Fear of the Lord’ is mentioned 16 times in the book of Proverbs. The meaning of fear in these verses is to have reverence or to be afraid of, stand in awe, or fear. So then to fear the Lord is to have reverence for God. To have a reverential fear of God is to have an attitude of deep respect for Him and His laws which should result in righteous living.

Solomon in his God given wisdom knew there were blessings for those that feared the Lord and extreme consequences for those that did not reverence God. Solomon wanted his son, his people, and I believe the whole world to truly comprehend the importance of having a reverential fear of the Lord. Thus the reason he stressed it so much in the book of Proverbs.

So what do the Proverbs say about fearing the Lord?

1) Fear of the Lord is the foundation of true wisdom

If we want to be truly wise then the very first thing we must do is reverence God. That is the beginning and the foundation of true knowledge. Our respect for God and His Word draws us closer to Him. It gives us a desire to want to search out His Word and learn more about His will, His righteousness, and His laws. Growing up in the knowledge of the Holy One results in good judgment, obedience to His Word, and a longing to please Him. (Proverbs 1:7, 9:10, 15:33)

2) How to truly understanding what it means to fear the Lord

If we really want to know what it means to fear the Lord then we have to desire the Word of God and the wisdom that it imparts with all of our heart. We have to cry out to God for insight and understanding of His Word. Our determination should be to fervently seek out wisdom like it was a hidden treasure. Then in our search for Wisdom we will begin to understand what it truly means to fear the Lord, and we will gain knowledge of God. (Proverbs 2:5)

3) Don’t envy sinners because choosing not to fear the Lord results in calamity and disaster

When people refuse to respect God and ignore His laws they will most certainly face trouble and judgment. The Lord has given us free will to do what ever we want. We can to have our own way and refuse to obey God. That is our choice; however we do not get to choose the consequences that we will face for disrespecting God. The Word of God is clear that those who refuse to reverence the Lord and reject wisdom will face disaster and calamity. So don’t envy sinners. Their sin has not gone unnoticed. If they do not repent they will inevitably be in a state of deep distress or misery caused by major misfortune or loss because they refuse to fear the Lord. There will be a disastrous event marked by great loss and lasting distress and suffering. (Proverbs 23:17, Proverbs 1:24-33, Proverbs 24: 21)

4) Fearing the Lord lengthens one’s life, but the years of the wicked are cut short

When we live our lives fearing the Lord and obeying the Word of God we are more likely to live a longer life. We will not be out there in the world acting crazy and foolish like the wicked do. That is why their lives are shortened prematurely. They do not fear danger and they do not care about their life or the lives of others. They are killed in gang shootings, drug over doses, drunkenness, diseases contracted by their careless living and in so many other ways they are dying and killing each other. There lives are cut short because they refuse to humble themselves to God’s Word. (Proverbs 10:27)

5) We are not to be impressed by our wisdom but instead we should fear the Lord, then we can have healing for our bodies

We can never think that we are wise enough. Instead we have to respect God’s wisdom and direction in our lives at all times and stay away from all evil and sin. When we trust our Lord with our lives and allow Him to lead us instead of following our own paths we will have good emotional and mental health. We will feel strong in our minds and hearts because we are trusting Him and obeying His Word. Our bodies will find healing from fear, sorrow, envy, resentment, hatred, guilt, and other emotional stresses that cause over 60% of illness in our bodies. (Proverbs 3:7-8)

6) Fearing the Lord results in obedience to the Word of God, righteous living.

When we fear the Lord we will desire to please God and obey His Word. We will hate all forms of evil. We will not minimize sin like the rest of the world does. We will hate pride, arrogance, corruption, and perverse speech just as much as we do murder or robbery. Our desire will be to ride ourselves of any unrighteousness in our lives. Because of our love and respect for God and our desire to be faithful to Him and His Word we will stay away from evil and avoid sin. (Proverbs 8:13, 16:6)

7) Fear of the Lord leads to a secure life in trusting God and not worrying about trouble or death.

When we honor and revere God we trust Him and realize that our lives are secure in His hands. We have a sense of security knowing that He protects us from evil and harm. However, even if we do have to face trouble we know that our souls belong to Him and we are secure in Christ Jesus so we do not fear death. To die is to be with Christ Jesus. (Proverbs 19:23, 14:27)

8) Because we Fear the Lord He will be a refuge for our children

We don’t have to worry about our children. They are His. Our love and respect for our God gives our children a special place of refuge in Him. He will watch over them and protect them from the snares of death. He will not allow the enemy to pluck them from His hands. He will draw them to Himself. He knows that this is our hearts desire and He will fulfill this desire because we fear and trust Him. (Proverbs 14:26)

9) It is better not to be rich and fear the Lord than to be rich and be miserable

Our faith in the Lord makes rich and teaches to be content in all situations whether we have plenty or little. Either way we know that our Lord works everything out for our good. Therefore we do not have to worry about tomorrow or what we shall eat and drink, because we know that our God provides for all of our needs. He never forsakes us which allows us to live carefree. The rich unbeliever often times has inner turmoil and stress that comes with his lifestyle. He does not have peace in his soul because He realizes that his wealth and accomplishments does not bring true lasting joy. His ambitions are never satisfied. (Proverbs 15:16)

10) True humility and fear of the Lord lead to riches, honor, and long life

When we humble ourselves to the Lord and reverence Him we are blessed with many spiritual riches, divine honor, and with everlasting life. Often times the Lord will also chose to bless those that fear Him with the privilege of managing wealth and riches here in this world. Many believers have the benefit of living a long earthly life fulfilling the great commission the Lord gave us. They will be honored in this world and in the next. (Proverbs 22:4)

Declaring My Love

I am not boasting when I say that I am truly blessed and highly favored of God. I know that I have found favor with God because our Lord has blessed me with my beautiful family. They motivate and encourage me. Each one of them is a wonderful gift from Him with a specific plan and purpose. I am grateful to our Lord for entrusting them to me and allowing me to be apart of His divine plan for their lives.

As I began to see all the Valentine’s Day promos I decided that I really needed to mediate more on love and the true meaning of it. Of course I began reading and studying 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.

“Love is patient and kind. Love is not jealous or boastful or proud or rude. It does not demand its own way. It is not irritable, and it keeps no record of being wronged. It does not rejoice about injustice but rejoices whenever the truth wins out. Love never gives up, never loses faith, is always hopeful, and endures through every circumstance.”

The Holy Spirit immediately began to ever so lovingly show me the areas that I need to mature in so that I can better show love to those closest to me. I am now more than ever so determined to show my family the love that is spoken of in 1 Corinthians 13:4-7.

I want to begin by making a public declaration of my love for them. So this is my Valentine’s Day card to you guys.

To my husband,

I’ve never told you this because I did not remember it. But the Lord reminded just last night one of my prayer request when I was at the school for really bad girls. I prayed for you. I prayed for a true husband that would love me with all of his heart. I prayed that he would put his family first and would be determined to succeed. I see now that you are that man.

I have never experienced such love before. You have showed me over and over again that our family is first. I have seen you make so many sacrifices to give us what we need. But the most prevalent sacrifice I have seen you make was on the day that you got baptized. Your public declaration of faith and service to Christ to me was also your public declaration of your love for us. To me I saw the old husband go down under the water and I see a new and improved priest rise up full of love and determination to make a difference in this world. In serving Him you have learned and are learning daily how to serve us. Thank you for laying down your life and your will to serve Christ Jesus and our family. This is the greatest sign of love. You make me proud to be your wife.

To my children,

I love you all so much. I don’t think that there are really words to describe it. Each one of you has been given to me as a special gift from our Lord to lovingly care for. From the first day that I knew you were being formed in my womb I knew that I had found favor in God’s eye because He entrusted his precious treasure to me. You are His treasure.
Everyday I pray and ask the Holy Spirit to make me the best mom that I can be for you. I go into God’s throne room asking that He would bless you and keep you safe all the days of your life. I ask Him to draw you close to Him and give you a desire to know Him personally. He has been faithful to answer my prayer. I see Him speaking to you and you are hearing His voice. What joy this brings me to see you acknowledge the Word of God. You make me proud to be your mother.

Each of your personalities is different and needed in our home. You bring flavor and laughter to my life. Even when you fight and argue sometimes I smile to myself (I said sometimes) and I say. “Lord these kids are driving me crazy.” But I love the craziness of our home. Thank you for being my kids.

I love you soooooo much.

Then last but not least. To the Lover of my Soul,

Although there will never be enough words to say how truly grateful I am to You let me try. Lord hear my heart. Thank you…thank you for loving me first. You never gave up on me even when I did not love you. You chased me down with love. Then other times you just sat back and waited for me to come home.

You have taught me the true meaning of love. You are Love. Only in knowing You and receiving your Love can anyone truly ever learn to love. Praise God..

Thank you for your blessings which are showered down on me. You have changed my heart. In fact I believe that you actually gave me a whole new one. This heart loves You and longs to serve You all the days of my life. That is my purpose. To be Your handmaiden. That is the only way that I can show You how much I love You. I give you my life and my will. Everything I am belongs to you. My gifts and talents are Yours to do with as you please. Accept this willing sacrifice Lord..My life here it is, I lay it down on your alter of love. Consume me with your fire and purify me.

Thank you Lord for your faithfulness in loving me, I love You…

Thank You Jesus!

“It is good to say, “Thank you” to the Lord, to sing praises to the God who is above all gods. Every morning tell him, “Thank you for your kindness,” and every evening rejoice in all his faithfulness.” (Psalm 92:1-2)

Thanksgiving is quickly approaching. It is one of my personal favorite holidays. I love cooking and eating. Mostly I enjoy our big family gatherings. I think about how many other families are gathered together enjoying their time of fellowship and meditating on all that they have to be thankful for. It is during this holiday that people really take time to reflect on God’s blessings, kindness, and faithfulness. On Thanksgiving many will be full of gratitude and give thanks to God. I can almost hear the wonderful praises and thanksgiving. Thank you Jesus!

To the Christian Thanksgiving should not be just once a year, it should be daily. We should live constantly giving thanks to God for his loving kindness and mercy towards us. He showers us with His blessings and favor. He is worthy to be praised at all times because He is our Awesome, Almighty God. He has never left us or forsaken us. He makes a way when there seems to be no way. When we think that we have lost the battle He reminds us that we have won the war because of His Son Jesus. We should thank Him at all times because we know that He is always working everything out for our good and for His glory. Thank you Jesus!

The Word says that we are to give thanks in all things. Sometimes that may seem hard when things don’t go as we planned or expected, but our God can use any situation to help us. We have to praise Him and thank Him no matter what happens or how we feel. When I have hard times and feel down I quickly remind myself that I have faith in Jehovah Jireh, El Shaddai, my Elohim. My hope is in Him and therefore I will praise Him because I know that no matter what I am facing, I am not alone. I know that He is for me so what or who can ever be against me that my God can not defeat and put under my feet? I give Him thanks because I trust Him with my family, friends, persecutors, ministry, finances, and my life. I thank Him because I don’t have to worry because He is always in control.

“No matter what happens, always be thankful, for this is God’s will for you who belong to Christ Jesus.” (1 Thessalonians 5:18)

“I will praise the Lord no matter what happens. I will constantly speak of His glories and grace. I will boast of all His kindness to me. Let all who are discouraged take heart. Let us praise the Lord together, and exalt His name.” (Psalm 34:1-3)

When we are constantly giving thanks to God and giving glory to Him for all that He is doing in our lives others will see and hear our praises. Sharing our God stories and praises will give others hope too. When they hear what God has done for us I believe the Holy Spirit will touch their hearts and impart faith to them. They too may come to put their trust in Him when they hear us giving thanks.

“Now many will hear of the glorious things he did for me, and stand in awe before the Lord, and put their trust in him.” (Psalm 40:3)

“Thank the Lord for all the glorious things He does; proclaim them to the nations. Sing His praises and tell everyone about His miracles.” (Psalm 105:1-2)

So let us be faithful to wake up in the morning and thank Him for His kindness and mercy. Throughout our day may His Spirit give us eyes to see His glory. When we lay down at the end of our day let us not close our eyes to rest before we thank Him for His faithfulness. Thank you Jesus!

Do You Love God?

Jesus said, “If you [really] love Me, you will (obey) My commands.” (John 14:15) I believe that many people have been deceived by the enemy of our souls into thinking that because we sin we are incapable of truly obeying God. That is a lie! God is at work in us helping us to want to obey Him, and then helping us to do what He wants. Every child of God can obey him, defeating sin and evil pleasure by trusting Christ to help them. The only true way to fight and win is by believing that Jesus is truly the Son of God! He knows that we need His help and so He has equipped us with everything we need to fulfill this calling to obedience. (Philippians 2:12-13, 1 John 5:4-5)

He has equipped us by giving us:

His Word which renews our minds and transforms us into new people by changing the way we think. It is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are in error and teaches us to do what is right. (Romans 12:2, 2 Timothy 3:16)
His Holy Spirit to instruct, teach, reveal, comfort, counsel, and guide us. He will intercede and assist in prayer, convict of sin, give us power and boldness, empower us to have victory over the flesh, and remind us of everything that the Lord has told us.
(Nehemiah 9:20, Job 32:8, Luke 12:12, 1 Corinthians 2:10, 1 John 2:27, John 16:13, Acts 11:12; 16:6-7; 20:22-23, Romans, 8:13-14, Galatians 5:16-18, Romans 8:26-27, Ephesians 2:18, Jude 1:20, John 15:26, 16:17, Acts 9:31, John 16:8-11, Acts 1:8, Acts 4:31, Ephesians 3:16, Romans 8:4, Galatians 5:25, John 14:26)
A way out of temptation. He promised to never allow temptation to be more than we can stand. When we are tempted, he will show us a way out so that we can endure. (1 Corinthians 10:13)

As long as we are in this fallen earth we will always battle the temptation to sin and yes there will be times where we will sin. However, as servants of Christ we are not to make a practice of sinning or make plans to sin because now God’s life is in us. We are called to be an example to others. So we can’t keep sinning, for this new life has been born into us and controls us. We have been born again. (1 John 3:9, 5:18) The truth is that we can obey Our Lord because we are no longer slaves to sin. We don’t have to give into sin! There is not condemnation for those who belong to Christ Jesus. And because we belong to him, the power of the life-giving Spirit has freed us from the power of sin that leads to death. (Romans 8:1-2)

Those who are dominated by the sinful nature think about sinful things, but those who are controlled by the Holy Spirit think about things that please the Spirit. So letting your sinful nature control your mind leads to sin and death. But letting the Spirit control your mind leads to life and peace. For the sinful nature is always hostile to God. It never did obey God’s laws, and it never will. That’s why those who are still under the control of their sinful nature can never please God.” (Romans 8:5-8) The more we do what God tells us to the more we will learn to really love God.

Holy Spirit, help us daily to be obedient to our Savior. Remind us that we are equipped with your power and your Word to overcome sin and the attacks of the enemy. We long to love the Lord with all of our hearts, mind, and soul. Help us Lord! In Jesus name..Amen!

It's All About A Relationship

True followers of Christ understand that Jesus died in our place for our sins and because of the blood that was shed at Calvary we now have right standing with God. We are made righteous with God because of what Christ Jesus did. We can now go boldly before the throne of God so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. We now have the opportunity to have a real relationship with the Creator of Heaven and Earth. (1 Peter 1:18-19, Isaiah 53:5-6, 2 Corinthians 5:21, Hebrews 4:16)

Do you really understand what that means? Christianity is NOT about religion or about being religious. Christianity is all about having a relationship with the Almighty God! It’s about spending time with Jesus through reading the Word, prayer, and fellowshipping with other believers resulting in becoming more like Christ.

Don’t let anyone complicate the simplicity of Christianity. It helps me to always remember the following things:

Ø We are all sinners and guilty of breaking God’s laws. The wages of our sin is death. (Romans 3:23, Isaiah 59:2, Romans 6:23)
Ø If we believe in Jesus Christ, repent of our sins, and confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord we will receive forgiveness for our sins and be saved from hell, where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth.( John 3:36, John 11:25-26, Psalm 50:22, Psalm 25:18, Luke 15:10, Romans 10:9, Matthew 22:12-13, Matthew 24: 50-51, Luke 13:27-28)
Ø We are sons and daughters of God Almighty. He is our Heavenly Father who is always watching over us and constantly thinking good thoughts towards us. He has good plans for our lives. He is our Helper and our Deliverer. We can put all our trust in Him because He cares for us. (Romans 8:14, Galatians We 4:5-7, 1 John 3:2, 2 Chronicles 16:9, Peter 3:12, Psalm 139:17-18, Jeremiah 29:11-13, Psalm 27:8-10, Psalm 37:39-40, Psalm 54:5, Psalm 46:1, Psalm 4:5, Psalm 2:12, Psalm 84:12, Proverbs 30:5, 1 Peter 5:7)
Ø The Holy Spirit lives in us and we are the temple of God. We are called to live holy and clean lives. We are to be living testimonies for others to read. (Ephesians 2:22; 1 John 3:24; 4:13, 1 Corinthians 3:16-17, 1 Corinthians 6:19-20)
Ø The Word of God is what renews our minds and changes us so that we become doers of the Word and not just hearers. Our bible needs to be our best friend. It has all the answers and comfort we need. (Romans 12:2, James 1:22, 2 Timothy 3:16, Psalm 119:50, Romans 14:4, Psalm 1:1-3, Psalm 119:165)
Ø We are no longer slaves to sin. The temptations in our life are no different from what others experience. God is faithful and will not allow the temptation to be more than we can stand. When we are tempted, he will show us a way out so that we can endure. (Romans 6, 1 Corinthians 10:13)
Ø All we need to do is seek God first and everything else will follow. We will change and our circumstances change as a result of seeking God’s face and spending time with Him. We’ll never be perfect until we get to heaven, but that’s still our goal. (Matthew 6:33, 2 Corinthians 3:18, Philippians 3:10-14)

Our Heavenly Father will continue the good work He started in us. He is going to be working on us daily if we allow Him to. God is our Heavenly Father who is constantly teaching us principles for living. He is preparing us daily for war against the enemy. He gives us tests and rewards. He is loving and protective over us. Our Heavenly Father will also discipline and chastise us. You are in a relationship with the Creator of Heaven and Earth because of Jesus’ loving sacrifice. Meditate on that daily. (Isaiah 55:11, Philippians 1:6, Proverbs 3:11-12, Hebrews 12:7-13)

So don’t be burdened by the idea of a religion. Take heart knowing that the Almighty God is your Heavenly Father who just wants to love and teach you. Allow Him to truly be Lord over your life and you will see that Jesus is truly The Way, The Truth, and The Life. (John 14:6)

Are You A Christian?

We have so many ideas of what a Christian is suppose to be. So many people call themselves Christian but are they really? The Word tells us that we can be sure that we belong to him by looking in ourselves and asking, “Are we really trying to do what he wants us to? Those who do right are His children. 1 John 2: 4 says, Whoever says, I know Him [I perceive, recognize, understand, and am acquainted with Him] but fails to keep and obey His commandments (teachings) is a liar, and the Truth [of the Gospel] is not in him.

We have got to stay close to God so that we are obedient to him. The more you spend time with God in prayer and reading the Word you will begin to love God more and more. You will also begin to obey him. So if we stay close to him, obedient to him, we won’t be sinning either; but as for those who keep on sinning, they should realize this; they sin because they have never really known him or become his. (1 John 3:6)

Being a Christian and loving God means doing what he tells us to do. This is not really that hard because He has given us is Holy Spirit and faith which helps to defeat sin. He will not allow the temptation in our lives to become more powerful than we can stand. He always provides a way out, but the choice is ours. We must practice self control in our lives and resist sin.

Whoever is living a life of sin and doesn’t love his brother shows that he is not in God’s family; for the message to us from the beginning has been that we should love one another. (1 John 3:10) If a person is not loving and kind it shows that they do not really know God. We must not just say that we love one another but show it with our actions. We need to reach out to our brothers and sisters in the Lord and help them when they are in need. We need to comfort one another when we are hurting. Sometimes a person just needs us to listen. If you have more than enough financially to help someone else then don’t hold back what God has given you, bless someone else.

So let us be true Christians showing our love for God by obeying Him and loving our brothers and sisters in the Lord. Let us practice being kind and loving one another because God is love.

He is the Way

This weekend I visited the Holy Land in Orlando. It was a wonderful family trip. The best part of the visit to this park was watching the reenactment of the crucifixion of Jesus. The blooded Jesus fell under the weight of his cross right in front of our family. Tears streamed down our faces as we began to truly conceive what our Savior suffered for us.

I have always loved my Lord for what He has done for me but I long now more than ever to not take his suffering lightly. Look at what Isaiah 53:4-5 says,
4Surely He has borne our griefs (sicknesses, weaknesses, and distresses) and carried our sorrows and pains [of punishment], yet we [ignorantly] considered Him stricken, smitten, and afflicted by God [as if with leprosy].
5But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our guilt and iniquities; the chastisement [needful to obtain] peace and well-being for us was upon Him, and with the stripes [that wounded] Him we are healed and made whole.
The more I meditate on what He did for me the more I desire to serve Him with my whole heart. I long to please Him by putting all of my trust in Him. My entire life is His to do with as He pleases. He has laid it on my heart to love and serve all of you. I am his handmaiden called to share his Truth and his love with authority from above.
Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life. Do not be mislead into to thinking that you are good enough without Him. This world is only temporary and God has something for you while you are here on this earth.
Christian brothers and sisters who sit on the fence, stop being luke warm! He will surely spit you out of His mouth if you continue in this manner. Repent and humble your self before our God so that He may renew the joy of your salvation and fill you this day anew with His Holy Spirit so that you may accomplish all that He has for you. Be aware that we are in the end days. Live each day to bring glory to His name.
To the Lost Soul, Jesus loves you and has died for you to be free. Do not be deceived any longer. Do not let religion confuse and blind you. You do not need religion. You need a relationship with God. Jesus is the only way to be saved. He is the ONLY way to the Father. The enemy would have you believe that you are a good person, but not one is good all have sinned and fallen short. Ask God to reveal Himself to you and He will. The True God will show himself to you and lead you to Jesus. Then you will be set free.
God bless you and may He increase knowledge and wisdom so that you may bring glory to Him all that you do. In Jesus name.

Slow Down

Life can get so busy. We have so much responsibility. It seems like there is never enough time in the day to complete all the things that need to be done. I know that personally my life can get chaotic if I allow it to. It is not easy raising 5 children and caring for a household of 8. There is always a never ending laundry pile and cleaning to do. My children and husband always need my attention and care.

I have been asked on several different occasions how do I do it. My answer is prayer, praising, and reading or listening to the Word. No matter how busy our lives get we have got to slow down and allow for personal time with the Lord. When we learn to stand still we will know God.

For some it will be early in the morning. For others like me it will be in the evening when the children have gone to sleep. For others it will be on your long drive through traffic on the way to and from work. We all need to spend private time with the Lord. Jesus went off alone to spend time with our Father. He had to separate himself from the group and have that alone time with God. It is in these personal moments that we will receive direction, confirmation, encouragement, and visions from the Holy Spirit. When we slow down and spend quality time with God we will learn to know Him better. It is in His presence that we find joy and we are changed.

Psalm 16:11, Lamentations 3:25, Hebrews 11:6

My God is Faithful!

My God is Faithful!
Psalm 40:1-3 I waited patiently for the LORD; he turned to me and heard my cry.He lifted me out of the slimy pit,out of the mud and mire; he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand. He put a new song in my mouth, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see and fear and put their trust in the LORD.
