As long as we live here in this world we will have troubles and trials. We will at times feel overwhelmed, stressed, distressed, and frustrated. But we do not have to allow ourselves to be agitated and disturbed by our circumstances. We do not have to permit our hearts to be troubled, fearful, intimidated, cowardly, and unsettled. We can have a supernatural perfect peace that surpasses all understanding in the middle of life’s storms. (John 14:27 Amplified Bible)
But how do we get to the point where we have peace in the middle of our most unsettling trials? How do we take courage; be confident, certain, and undaunted when we feel completely overwhelmed?
We get that peace by remembering what The Word (Jesus) has to say, by praying and trusting God even in the middle of the storm.
Jesus has said, “I have told you these things, so that in Me you may have [perfect] peace and confidence.” Jesus is The Word. (John 1:1) His Word is what will infuse peace and confidence into our spirits. We have got to run to The Word for comfort, encouragement, direction, and for protection from the attacks that will come against our minds and try to overwhelm us in our most trying times. Then with the Word we have to run to the throne room of God and pour out our hearts to Him. God has promised that when we do this we WILL receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. (Hebrews 4:16) Worry, fear, doubt, unbelief, anxiety, and depression will come against us and try to get us to throw away the confident trust we have in the Lord. But patient endurance is what we’ll need in these seasons of tribulation so that we can do God’s will in our lives and circumstances. (Hebrews 10:35-38)
We have to do exactly what Philippians 4:6-14 says in order to experience that supernatural peace. It says,
6 Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. 7 Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus.
8 And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. 9 Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you. (Emphasis mine)
The Word is clearly telling us in these verses that we don’t need to worry about anything. All we need to do is pray, tell God what we need and thank Him for everything that he has done. He is telling us in verse 8 to fix our thoughts on what is true, honorable, right, pure, lovely, and admirable. To think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. I believe right here He is telling us to mediate on His Word, which is all of these things. His Word will speak to our hearts and minds reminding us that we are not alone in our troubles, reminding us that God has not left or forsaken us. It will reassure us that we are more than conqueror’s because of our faith in Christ Jesus. It reassures us that no weapon formed against us will succeed because Jesus has overcome the world and its power to truly harm or conqueror the real us, the redeemed us. (John 14:18, Hebrews 13:5, Romans 8:37, Isaiah 54:17, Romans 10:17)
Look at what these verses say about trusting God: (Emphasis in the verses mine)
Nahum 1:7 (NLT) - The LORD is good, a strong refuge when trouble comes. He is close to those who trust in him.
Isaiah 40:31 - (NLT) - But those who trust in the LORD will find new strength. They will soar high on wings like eagles. They will run and not grow weary. They will walk and not faint.
1 Chronicles 5:20 - (NLT) They cried out to God during the battle, and he answered their prayer because they trusted in him. So the Hagrites and all their allies were defeated.
As we pray and read His Word we will increase in faith and trust, resulting in our taking courage; being confident, certain, and undaunted. It is this trust in the Lord that will draw us closer to God, that will renew our strength, and that will lead us into victory.
Here's a song called Let The Water's Rise by Mike's Chair I wanted to share with you. I hope that it speaks to someone's heart.
Enclosing, like Paul, I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit.

My friend asked me the other day how to stay in the eye of storms in life. I am glad you wrote this, I forwarded it to her. I love the collection of Bible verses to meditate on.
Thanks you so much :)I'm glad that it was an on time word.
