Throughout my life I have had many ups and downs. During the difficult times God has been faithful to give me comfort and encouragement. He is constantly reminding me through His Word and Spirit that He has not left me or forsaken me in my troubles. He always brings to my remembrance the fact that I have overcome many trials in the past by putting my faith in Him. I know that this time is no different.
I then begin to look back over my past circumstances and my faith immediately increases because I know that my God has always been faithful to provide all of my needs from his riches and glory. I realize that just when I thought that I could no longer take it any more and I would feel like giving up, He would open the doors for my family. His consistent faithfulness and love make my joy complete.
If it were not for these difficult times in my life I would be useless in this world. It’s through our suffering that we are made whole. The trials in this life are the furnace that purifies us and makes us like gold.
We are comforted by God so that we then can console others. If we did not have hard times we would not know what God’s faithfulness really is. Look at what 2 Corinthians 1:3-4
3Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of sympathy (pity and mercy) and the God [Who is the Source] of every comfort (consolation and encouragement),
4Who comforts (consoles and encourages) us in every trouble (calamity and affliction), so that we may also be able to comfort (console and encourage) those who are in any kind of trouble or distress, with the comfort (consolation and encouragement) with which we ourselves are comforted (consoled and encouraged) by God.
So the next time you are going through something distressing remember that sometimes God allows us to go through specific situations so that we can minister to someone that He plans to put in our path. Be prepared at all times to console and encourage someone else that may be afflicted. It just may be your testimony that God uses encourage and renew their strength and faith.
